Nellie was found wandering a wooded area in Lake County. She was in shocking condition. When we took her to the vet she was SEVERELY emaciated (22 pounds) and ear infections. In any case she is an amazingly sweet dog, even though right now she is so sick. She is great with kids, dogs and cats. She would make a wonderful companion. Her medical expenses will be high so we are asking for donations to help defer some of the cost. We hope you will consider donating. If so you can make a donation via our secure PayPal account on our web site at www.aear.org or send a check to AEAR P.O. Box 7343 Libertyville, IL. 60048.
10-20-09 Nellie's foster mom tells us that Nellie is "totally housebroken and hasn't had a single accident." She said that Nellie can curl up in a tiny ball on the couch and snuggles up against you. She never barks but like a basenji makes funny noises like talking sometimes. Nellie is playful and likes toys. They said she's about as perfect as a dog can get! And she also gained four pounds! The doctor estimates that at full weight she will be between 30-34 pounds. Her skin is clearing up nicely.
12-08-09 Nellie is still waiting for that family to call her own. She is such a good, sweet dog. She has an excellent personality. He is completely healthy now. She likes to play but also sleeps curled up beside a human. She loves walks but likes to also play in the yard. She is good with the other dog and the cats she lives with. She lives with a family with kids so we know she is very good with kids too.
