The Pets

    More about Skip

4/17/07 Skip is a sweet 11-month-old Dachshund mix who was rescued from a rural shelter. He would make a great companion for a loving family. Here's what his foster mom says about him: Skip is a mixture of dachshund and a terrier (fox? Rat?). He has fun qualities of both. He seems spirited–energetic and playful but not spastic. I think a fenced backyard would be ideal. He loves to run and needs space to do it. He does not appear to be able or to want to jump over the fence. Skip has done all his business outside and he did not appear to want to mark inside. (I did put a belly band on both him and Max for prevention but it hasn’t been an issue to far–and it seems like that usually happens right off the bat.) Skip is great with other dogs and wants to play. He has been a bit curious about the cats but doesn’t chase them or provoke them. So I think he’d be a terrific addition to a house with pets already. He sleeps peacefully in his crate in our room at night–a bit of crying the first night but settled down. Last night he went right to sleep. When I am out he is crated, he barks at first but quiets…he is very excited though when you come home and he is let out. Like a dachsie, Skip is great about giving "dachshund kisses" and is a snuggler. He is trying to learn the stairs…up is okay but down is too scary!
