Janie is a purebred chihuahua who was found as a stray in the area. Her owners never claimed her. She was found during a bad thunderstorm. She weighs around eight pounds. She is shy but once she knows you she is very sweet. She loves playing with toys. She is not great with other dogs right now but with time and work we think she'll get better.
UPDATE 10-19-09 Janie moved to a new foster home where she can get more one-on-one attention. Now that she has settled in after being so traumatized after coming in as a stray she is loving to play with toys and excited to see new people. She is bossy with new dogs but with an easy going dog who lets her be boss she's fine and even initiates play.
UPDATE 11-12-09 We took Janie to the vet to get spayed and her shots and the poor baby tested positive for Heartworm. So Janie is going to stay with her veterinarian so he can work on socializing her and getting her more comfortable before she undergoes treatment. Janie is a young dog so we are confident she will survive the treatment. But please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. The heartworm treatment is expensive so if you would like to help Janie by donating towards her treatment you can make a donation on our web site at www.aear.org or send a check to AEAR P.O. Box 7343 Libertyville, IL. 60048. Please make sure to mention the donation is for Janie and we'll have her send you a thank you note!
UPDATE 12-08-09 Janie had heartworm treatment and is recovering very well, She is ready to find that home she will spend the rest of her life.
UPDATE 1/20/10 Foster mom says Janie is getting along nicely with her other doggy siblings. She initially barks when she is left alone, but then quiets down within a few minutes. She is fully recovered from her heartworm and ready to find her forever home!
