About AEAR's Humane Investigations

We are a dedicated group of volunteer professionals who are authorized by the Illinois Department of Agriculture as Approved Humane Investigators. We are part of a not-for-profit organization created to educate pet owners and investigate complaints of animal abuse, neglect, and suspected violations of the Illinois Humane Care for Animals Act. We are one of the first highly active, structured, and organized groups of its kind in Lake County.

Our service area encompasses all of Lake County Illinois and our volunteers will investigate any complaint within the county. We receive our complaints in several different ways. We receive complaints from the Illinois Department of Agriculture, fellow Humane Investigators, local animal shelters, businesses, and citizens.

If you would like to report animal cruelty, neglect, abuse, or a violation of the Illinois Humane Care for Animals Act within Lake County Illinois you can contact us by phone, fax, postal mail, e-mail, or you can now use our new online reporting system by clicking the link below.
