Minnie is a Chihuahua who has had a confusing life. She lived with a man who went to jail and was given (along with a male Chihuahua) to the man’s grandmother. The grandmother was handicapped and could not properly take care of the dogs so she kept them in a basement for an unknown amount of time. She told us that Minnie had had two litters of puppies and that she gave the puppies away. She asked us to take Minnie and the male, Mickey, also a Chihuahua. After we took Minnie we learned that she was pregnant again. Minnie gave birth to her four puppies the night of March 31 and morning of April 1. She is an excellent mother. After she weans the puppies at six weeks we will get her spayed and then she will be ready for a home of her own. Minnie deserves a life where she can be someone’s baby and be pampered and loved.
September 11, 2011 UPDATE: Minnie has been with us over seven months now. Her pups are long gone and she still waits to get adopted. Minnie is fantastic with her foster family and has even gotten comfortable with their three year old child. She has favorite volunteers especially Mary who named her. Minnie is barky and guarded with new people (as are lots of chihuahuas) but give her ten minutes and she'll be your enthusiastic friend. She also never forgets anyone and once she knows you the next time she sees you she is so very excited.
We estimate that Minnie is around seven to eight years old.
